Photographing births is just one of the most special things. Each birth is unique, different and beautiful. Think back to your biggest moments in life. Your graduation, your wedding day, and of course the birth of each of your children. Almost everyone does senior pictures to remember how you are at 18, then you hire a wedding photographer, after-all after the day, all you have left is your wife/husband and your pictures. Birth photography is a fairly new idea, but after you are home, and you have days upon days of sleeplessness with no amazon fluffy pillows, and quiet nights of doing nothing but staring into your new babies eyes, will you remember those moments before their arrival? Maybe those special visitors who painted your toe nails for you, or rubbed your feet or back, or snuck you a slurpee (because afterall it is KIND OF a clear liquid right?) Even the painful contractions, the need for oxygen, and all your sweet nurses attending you, YOU made it, this little bundle of joy, it might have been a long night (or more) but you did the work. Celebrate one of the hardest days of your life, remember it.

OMG! So gorgeous and I adore, ADORE the “length” shot! Love the photojournalistic approach and yes – it is one of the hardest things a woman can accomplish – the memory should be treasured!

LOVE these! I wish more people got their birth photographed. what an amazing memory 🙂
Beautiful work, Rachel! Once again, you have captured the miraculous beauty of a precious new life. I am biased because I know the couple and love them dearly but this is the sweetest ‘birth’ photography I have ever seen. You captured the mother’s beautiful anticipation, the father’s joy and even ‘big’ brother’s curiosity! You are an amazing photographer with exceptional talent! Thank you for sharing these pictures!
